Main Ingredient
Recipe Seasonality
Fall, Summer
Ingredients

1 pound raw fresh peanuts
5 star anise
2 slices ginger
1/4 cup Hawaiian sea salt
3 ounces teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
2 tablespoon BBQ sauce
1 teaspoon BBQ seasoning
1 teaspoon minced garlic

Method

Rinse peanuts thoroughly in cold water to clean off any remaining dirt and set aside.

Fill large pot with water and add star anise, ginger, Hawaiian sea salt, teriyaki sauce, liquid smoke, BBQ sauce, BBQ seasoning, and minced garlic.

Stir everything together and bring to rolling boil for 30 minutes to build broth. Lower heat to simmer, add peanuts, and stir to ensure they are fully coated in broth.

Cover pot and simmer for 2 to 3 hours, stirring roughly every 30 minutes.

Once peanuts have softened and taken on deep, rich color, drain them from liquid and serve warm or let them cool to serve chilled.
