G&S Farms

This farm was started in the early 1940s by Emilio Ghiggeri with about 60 acres. He was the first farmer to grow corn in Brentwood! Seventy years later they have grown to a farm of over 1,000 acres and are still family-owned. Today, Emilio's son, Roy Ghiggeri, runs the farm, along with Emilio's son-in law, Glenn Stonebarger. The two farm around a thousand acres in Brentwood.

They say the best part about farming is the harvesting. After all the hard work that goes into growing and producing the crop the best part is seeing the results. They enjoy going to the farmers' markets because of the interaction they receive with the consumers on a one-to-one basis. It feels good to supply the consumer with a truly fresh product.

They stress the importance of maintaining family farms. Their goal is to keep growing but maintain the family farm atmosphere. They are starting on the third generation and who are interested in continuing the tradition.
