Apple Crisp

Nothing says fall like apples. Try this apple crisp warm from the oven.

Ingredients

7 small apples, peeled, cored, cubed
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon white wine or hard cider
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Topping
1 stick of butter, cubed
1/4 cup walnuts chopped
1/4 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons flour

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix first set of ingredients in a bowl and let it sit for an hour at room temperature. Strain the liquid; save for later. Put the apples in an 8 inch square pan. In a separate bowl, mix topping ingredients together, kneeding until butter is mixed in thoroughly. Crumble topping over the top and bake until brown and bubbling. Check after 30 minutes, but it will likely take 45 min to 1 hour.

Reduce strained liquid to a syrup in a saucepan and use it to top ice cream.
